The INPS sponsors an email discussion group through Google Groups accessible to anyone and everyone interested in native plants and insects. Subscribers receive notices of environmental events, conservation job announcements, discussions related to native plants and insects, blogs, sightings, and more.

Becoming an INPS member does NOT automatically enroll you in the Iowa Native Plant and Insect email discussion group. For members and non-members wanting to join the email discussion group, please click on this link https://forms.gle/NkC9A6pToaMHLRLp8 to fill out a Google Form.

If you are unable to fill out the Google Form for any reason, please follow the steps below:

To subscribe, send an email to: iowanativeplantsociety@gmail.com

Subject: Subscribe

Email message: Please provide your first and last name and preferred email address.

You will then be manually added to the Google Group by an INPS representative. Depending on your email host (i.e., Gmail vs Yahoo), you may be directly added or an invitation will be sent. Be sure to check your spam folder if you do not receive an email notification.

If you have questions or issues with signing up, please reach out to INPS at: iowanativeplantsociety@gmail.com

The INPS board wishes to express its thanks to Diana Horton for establishing and managing the original Iowa Native Plant listserv for many years. We would also like to thank and recognize MJ Hatfield who took over management of the Iowa Native Plant Listserv and the Iowa Insects listserv. With all of their help, this tool served as a major communications link for INPS members and other outdoor lovers across the Upper Midwest. In 2026, INPS took over the management of the email listservs and combined the Iowa plant list and Iowa insect list to create one group, the Iowa Native Plant and Insects Google Groups.
